What is Provided ?
The YF/RF Program offers a host of services and activities, including (but not limited to):
Individual Assessment
Individual Service Plan
Parenting and Life Skills Sessions, such as identifying family strengths, conflict resolution and child abuse prevention
Career Track Preparation, such as GED obtainment, job readiness training and. job search assistance
Family Service Needs
*Domestic Violence Services/Classes/Referrals which:
educate men about the different forms of physical abuse, physical intimidation and sexual abuse
* Assist men in recognizing that they have control over how they act and think
* Acquaint men with the short and long term effects of their violent behavior
*Personalize the information by recognizing their own versions of the abrasive behavior
*Educate men about the effects of such behavior on their partners and children
The Baltimore City Young Fathers/Responsible Fathers Program (YF/RF) is a service that provides an avenue to young fathers, expectant fathers, and/or males at risk of becoming fathers through which they can acquire parenting skills, a career track and family services. These three elements are key in developing unified, healthy and vibrant families.
The primary goals of YF/RF are:
• To empower participants to be financially, emotionally and socially supportive of their families
and
• To encourage participants to be assets to themselves, their children, their families and their community
Who is Eligible ?
The target population for eligible program participants is fathers, expectant father, and/or males at risk of becoming fathers between the ages of fourteen and forty-five.
Young Fathers/Responsible Fathers is a collaborative effort between:
the Baltimore City Department of Social Services, the Baltimore Urban League,
and the Mayor's Office of Children, Youth & Families
Young Fathers/Responsible Fathers has been in existence since 1993
and combines resources from three of Baltimore's strongest
community-based organizations.
